0.9.10 is very very old and a security issue.

Hello there. Getting some wierd audio problems, too. VLC 2.2.4 Weatherwax (Intel 64bit). System: MacBook Pro, Intel Core i7, 2,5 GHz - 4 Cores, 16 GB. Tried with differnt output devices. And did a reinstall… problem remains.

"i think an earlier post described it best - it sort of sounds like a needle on a turntable has built up too much dust. the distortion doesn't start right away, it usually comes in after 5-10seconds of playback or so." < this

Allways the case if i listen to bassheavy tracks. Certain frequencies? Dunno.

edit: This problem is version specific to v2.2.4. No problems on v2.2.3.

Tomorrow's December 1st. Quoted post is dated July 5th, replying to June 24th post. Five months of internet time fails to qualify as "soon". Three months wouldn't qualify as soon. Hoping the fix for this .mp3 audio distortion problem arrives "soon".

Do you know what the trac ticket# is for this issue? I was not able to find it with a few likely search terms.

I am very confused that I noticed a distortion of this nature tonight that I don't think I've noticed in the months I have been using VLC 2.2.4 previously, but I cannot imagine what the change might have bene. Reverting to 2.2.3 fixes it.

Thanks!

2.2.5 here and so far not noticing issues as before, need to do some deeper, broader listening but fingers crossed!

2.2.5 and sad to say it's still there when playing .flac. Convert flac to mp3 and artifacts are gone.

My clear test case (mp3 of track 18 "I Wish You Would [Voice Memos]" from Taylor Swift's 1989; this is mostly speech not music) plays fine under the latest 2.2.5 nightly (vlc-2.2.5-20170226-0453), as well as 2.2.3, and I've (re)confirmed 2.2.4 still screws it up. So at least for me, 2.2.5 resolves this.

FInally gave up and working with Swinsian for now - my needs are fairly limited and the improvement in library management etc is a great step up as a bonus. Thank you for the work on VLC, just that with .flac audio as a critical part of the equation for me that uncertainty is impractical for me. Good luck and hope it all gets worked out one day.

I'm on a late 2016 MacBook Pro without the Touch Bar.

Music sounds very distorted. Almost like it's underwater and gargling. I hope the team knows about it. It's been almost 6 months and still the same problem.
