WMV audio out of sync since updating to VLC 2.2.2

Audio is out-of-sync with respect to the video in WMV files ever since updating to VLC 2.2.2. The same WMV videos were playing fine in VLC 2.2.1.

E.g. these are the stream infos of one of my WMV files, according to ffmpeg 2.8.6:

You probably use an Airplay audio device? Note that VLC 2.2.2 does not support automatic sync for A/V with Airplay.

I also experienced this issue with audio being out of sync when playing back WMV files after updating to v2.2.2. Additionally, video playback was very choppy and frequently stops for fractions of a second. The same WMV files play without issues in v2.2.1, which i just re-installed.

In case this is of any help, I established that the audio stream was exactly 3 seconds ahead of the video stream for all WMV videos. Setting the audio delay to -3,000ms solved the synchronization issue, but the choppiness was still there, which made for a very unpleasant experience.

I'm running OS X 10.11.3 - El Capitan, and using my Macbook's built-in audio device (that is, no Airplay devices). This only affects WMVs; all other containers are unaffected.

I confirm the same issue: with VLC 2.2.2 playing WMV files are choppy and the audio gets out of sync. Reverting to 2.2.1 fixes the problem.

I'm not using AirPlay. This is on OS X 10.10.5 on a high-powered iMac.

I'll look into opening a bug report, but before I do, could you see if this is still an issue with the latest nightly, available here:

Note, that the nightlies directory contains both 2.2.x and 3.x.x builds.

I can confirm that vlc-2.2.0-x86_64-20160226-0309.zip works - no choppiness and audio and video are pretty much in sync.

The wmv choppiness is still there in 2.2.4. I can only get smooth playback by reverting to 2.1.5.
