085-svn-20051118 Aspect Ratio incorrect on TS

Testing on a Mac, this version does not display in the correct aspect ratio for one of our live channels.

Works fine in 082 and 084-t1, but incorrect in 084-t2 and 085-svn.

I have been testing 0.84t2 the past week with good results on my PMG5 Server w/ dual 2 GHz runing OSX 10.3.9. I am playing your clip and plays OK with good aspect ratio. I assume it is an HD (16x9) ratio because that's what I am observing.

Hi Rick, yes it's 16:9 standard definition (720x576). On my version the image is wider than it should be, squashed from the top. Do you get a different result in 0.8.2?

I have no problem with any flattening or widening of the aspect ratio. But then I am watching it in "fullscreen" mode on a 19 in. LCD monitor. Not exactly same as watching it on a HD panel.

Anyway, check your VLC preference and choose "Quartz". That is my setting. I think you can also select Open-GL. When I select that I get a "cubed" display and rotating - since in the Open-GL setting I have the rotation set.

Also, I have tried streaming your clip to two UDP clients (Fedora Core running VLC 0.8.1) and they were playing your clip just like PMG5 Server with 0.8.4t2. Perhaps, you can delete the VLC folder in the /Preferences folder. I had trouble playing with 0.8.4t2 since I moved from 0.8.2 and deleting the VLC folder was the solution. Deleting it does not prevent VLC client from running - it will just make a new one with the default settings.

Last, can you tell me the video format/encoding (i.e. MPEG4 video, H264, Vorbis, etc) and the audio format/encoding (MPEG1,2,4, AAC, etc.) since it was perfect for my UDP streaming. I am setting up a multicast streaming on a local subnet - HD Video Stream On Demand.

The TS is just standard definition MPEG-2 PAL.
