And please note that we are not obliged to provide any VLC nightly build with any specific ass (or other) version.

Since the devs are probably too busy to fix this soon and since I have a need to watch anime, I have solved the libass crashing issue in the current 3.0 nightlies by replacing the liblibass.dylib with a non-crashing version from http://nightlies.videolan.org/build/mac ... 3-0113.zip. I have tested other versions in that backup folder and I'm relatively certain that that is the last working one. So far, I have not run into any issue.
