opening in full screen

Postby detlef » 23 Mar 2012 12:25

In versions 1 of VLC, once you were in full screen mode, a video would open in full screen. This is changed in version 2; even with full screen checked, the next video will open in a normal size window. Is there any way to tell VLC 2.0.1 to open a video in full screen?

Same issue here. Full screen is checked under video/display preferences but videos never start in full screen
VLC 2.0.1. on 10.7.3.

found a workaround by enabling the native lion fullscreen preference but then it disables the fullscreen video device preference!

Regrettably, that's how the "native" fullscreen mode was intended to work by Apple. We don't have any influence on that.

I just fixed your original issue for VLC 2.0.2. Thanks for reporting!

Looks like the issue where the next video is not starting in fullscreen (only the 1st video after opening vlc starts in FS) is back :/
(2.0.4 on mountain lion)

I'm using VLC Version 2.2.0 Weatherwax (Intel 64bit) Mac OS X Yosemite 90% for audio. When I open the player since changing to this version even after I shrink the screen down to the minimum play bar it opens in full screen. I have look in Preferences but am unable to locate something to change this. I'm squirrelly about clicking on anything that I have doubts about in lieu of erasing whole huge files when I was just a lad in short pants. Thank you.

VLC should restore its state to as it was in the previous session. So generally, you should quit the fullscreen mode (which is not meant to be used together with the minimized mode anyway). And for the next start, VLC should move its window to the same position as before.

If this does not work, try resetting preferences, by clicking the button in the simple preferences pane.
