VLC 2.2.0 - Snapshots not stretched anamorphically

Postby PeeWee » 02 Mar 2015 10:56

Tried to change the "video snapshot width" in the prefs, but didn't find any value that stretched the snapshots correctly. Tried the same with VLC 2.1.5, but this value doesn't seem to have any effect on the aspect ratio of the snapshot file.

Is there another option somewhere ?

No, the AR is conserved.

Hi, I've the same problem after updating to VLC 2.2.0 (Windows 7 64 bit): snapshots are squared and not stretched.

I have the same problem on my MacBook, and only with DVDs. I tried with a .avi video and it worked as it used to be with the previous versions, but with all DVDs the snapshots are squared.

I didn't have this problem with version 2.1.x. I tried with DVDs from which I had obtained correct snapshots, and now there is a problem.

I'm using rotate to get portrait format, & snapshot is really quite hilarious! (9:16 stretched to about a standard 4:3 it seems).

Also, snapshots save as a file named "VLC" with no extension (whether I configure it as .png or .jpg; I have to add this manually), and ignores the default (or any other prefix), "vlcsnap-".

So far, the nightly builds don't correct this issue, alas…

Am I wrong, or this was not solved with 2.2.1?
