Audio Quality VLC Mac

Postby Allisten » 01 Mar 2015 15:40

Hi,

Long time user of VLC, but never really happy with the sound quality it produces. It sounds a bit low res, lack of bass.. Can't really describe.
I've got a nice audio interface & speakers, I'm playing lossless music, so that shouldn't be the problem.
I know iTunes processes it sound on Core Audio 'level', but it really sounds better than VLC does!

Now if I take a look in VLC's Preferences > All, I see a lot of processing options which values are not down to zero (what I would call Default).
So they seam to actually process the sound, I'm talking bout Spatializer, Param. EQ, Compression, Delay. This would make sense, given the sound I'm hearing.
But it's not what I want!
Questions: Are these tools & settings actually altering the sound quality of everything in the playlist, Are they here with a reason?
I've done clean installs of VLC, but these settings keep coming back, so it's not something I did..

Thanks!

Thanks. But no change. I'm talking about these parameters, Are they the same in your VLC player?
They would actually alter VLC's sound.. But Why?

When in Preferences, if you select the "Filters" text heading itself, you can see a checkbox list of the filters to see if any are active.
