Renaming files

Postby Martin sisff » 03 Feb 2015 21:55

I am using VLC Media Player 2.1.5 on my iMac OSX 10.9.4 to make a playlist consisting of .mov files which I am transferring from The Finder window.
The files in some cases were created by the author using a working title which bears no resemblance to the actual title of the video.
In these cases I have renamed the files appropriately, and these now display correctly in Finder.
The problem is when I drop the files into VLC the Media Player displays the original file names, and sorts them into alphabetical order making it difficult for me to re-order them as I want.
Why does the VLC Player not recognise the renamed file names?
Hope you can help?

VLC read outs out and displays video file names / titles for some file types. This is information stored inside the file itself. You can try to enable the URI column, where you can see the original file path for each file.

Use VLC 2.2, and right click on the column header.

I have added this information to the wiki page on "Playlist:"
