Make playlist from sections of a single file?

Postby nosecohn » 21 Dec 2014 01:48

Hi Everyone.

I have a 90 minute video file and I'm wondering if it's possible to make a playlist that includes specific sections of it. What I'm really looking to do is insert some title cards at various spots in the video and then pick it up again right where it left off. I thought bookmarks and a playlist might be the way to go rather than editing the video, but I can't find a way to make a playlist of bookmarks in VLC.

Tips or suggestions welcome.

I'm on a Mac running Snow Leopard (10.6.8)

You can use the advanced open dialog to specify a start and stop time. But currently I'm not sure if these values will get saved in the playlist.

But depending on your sequence it might be easier to just use a video editing tool to cut the clips.

Thanks. That just might work. I ran a quick test and everything got saved with the playlist.

Can I control the length of time the title cards (image files) play? Each one seems to stay on the screen for 10 seconds by default and I can't see a way to change that.
