I wonder why there ain't more hustle around this? I would think that ability to display correct colors is a quite important feature for a video player. Correct me if I am missing something here
In "Apple word" is ...
There is such a thing as the "proper/right formats of video" in "Apple word". who have standards. The mpeg 1/2 (h263), h264, aac, mp3 are right streams and mp4, mpeg, mov are right containers.
Ogg, ogm sterams and mkv, avi, wmv containers are considered as not right ones.
vlc, mplayer, ffmpeg etc can read it but in Apple that players are considered as not "right" too )))
There are not one of that players can't work with colorsync. I see it that apple close their code of colorsync. People who write vlc etc can't make api that will be make a normal work their app with colorsync.
Proprietary closed source of a lot of OS X code. Proprietary politics and in iOS. People pay money out of the blue.
I, that watch some (mkv etc) video, must buy a right device!!! (TV!!!) or go to cinema. This is "Apple word" philosophy.
See at quicktime x player. This is the misery. A brake terrible one.
