I'm using Mac 10.6.8 and after I upgraded to vlc 2.1.0 I am crashing while playing .mp4 files. Sometimes the file will not load and vlc crashes. Other times the movie may load but as soon as I click later in the movie in the timeline vlc quits.
Any thoughts?

Yes, there is an issue of 2.1.0 on 10.6 crashing because of a system calls issue.

Should I look forward to a fix or does a system call mean I should downgrade vlc?

You should downgrade until 2.1.1 is out, I think.
