Download VLC for OS X 10.8.4?

Postby itsybitsyspider » 16 Sep 2013 14:59

Hi!

I'm new to Mac, so I have a stupid question. :) When I clicked 'download' on the web site, an icon popped into my downloads on the desktop toolbar, however when I tried to open the file I found that it appeared in the list as a dimmed icon with an 'x' in the top-left corner. Trying to click on the link to open the .dmg file yields no results, and one's only option is to cllick on the 'x' to delete the file from downloads. I've used VLC for so many years, and I've discovered that QuickTime doesn't possess the codecs required to play downloaded media. So sad! Please help!

Hi, this is the link you need.
http://get.videolan.org/vlc/2.0.8/macosx/vlc-2.0.8.dmg

Once downloaded right click on the download folder and select -open "download"-.
Double click on the file "vlc-2.0.8-intel64.dmg" and and you will see this: http://postimg.org/image/4gzrk4df7/

Now drag your vlc icon into the applications folder.

You will find a new icon into your application folder named "vlc".
Click on it and you will come across an alert message. click on open and you have done!
