Streaming from D-Link DNS-323 NAS

Postby dpoirier » 22 Jul 2013 23:11

Is there a way to stream directly from a D-Link DNS-323 NAS to IOS devices? I tried to open with a third party app, but all i got was a black screen with the counter that was way out to lunch, showing me 4 hours on a movie that was only 1.5 hours...

I want to be able to stream directly from my NAS to my IOS devices without having to copy the files onto the device.

Me too, I'm owner Synology's diskstation (NAS). It's very hard have to copy each file I want see to iPad... It's possible in this or future versions be able to transmit via streaming by NFS, samba, WebDav or AFP shares?

Thk in advance. (Sorry for my english)

We will add support both for WebDav and Samba. We are looking into it at the moment, but I can't give an estimate yet.

When I try to open AVI files, they play a black image with scratchy audio. I have successfully played a couple mp4 files.

The AVI files are encoded AVC video and MPEG(MP3) audio, while the mp4's are H264 video and AAC audio.

So, it appears that streaming through a third party app currently does work, but only with certain file types...

The scratchy audio will be fixed in the next update 2.0.2

Ok, so I installed the update to 2.0.2 and the audio sounds good, but the video is not working... still just a black screen...

And if you transfer the file?

If the file is transferred to the device, it plays correctly. Audio and video works as expected.

Is this going to be a limitation, or will this be something that should work in the future?
