VLC dissapeared off my desktop

Hi,
I just downloaded vlc-0.8.2..it worked like a beauty! But the next day, the vlc hardrive icon dissapeared off my desktop and when I tried to double-click on the dmg file..nothing happened! Im on a OSX Tiger. Please help!

I've experienced the same thing several times. Does anyone have a solution to this problem?

Ehm, is there a special reason why you two don't copy VLC.app on your harddrives / to the Applications-folder? This should probably help.

BTW. I'm on Tiger as well and I'm able to open the disk-images as often as I like to. Did you reboot after a failed mounting? This might help there (my experience is that Apple's disk-image and installer tools are quite buggy and only rebooting helps).

Mine is in the Applications folder. Strangely enough, it started to work the very next day I posted my first query. Thanks anyway!
