I'm having this issue with 2.0.5 as well. Upgrading to the latest nightly fixed it, hehehe, however that crashes after a short period. Downgraded to 2.0 as well as others here and that solved the issue. I found a link to d/l 2.0 here… http://sourceforge.net/projects/vlc/fil ... urce=accel

I have recently downloaded the VLC 2.0.5 Intel 64bit/32 version on my new MAC Book Pro Retina etc, have used the VLC player successfully without any problems, but now on the same night when playing the same series have no sound what-so-ever...

I have also deleted the program of the MAC, downloaded re-installed the current version again without any success. Is there nay way to trouble shoot this or correct this problem?

SOLEK.

I was at 2.01 on Snow Leopard, MacPro. Digital audio output (toslink), video full screen on a mini DVI port to HDMI converter to big TV.

Saw there was a new version out today. Clicked the "Update" from within VLC and it gave me 2.05 instead of 2.06.

Tried it. 2 .mkvs in playlist. 1st one played fine. The videos have embedded subtitles enabled by default.
When the second video started, there was no audio output.
Closing the video and re-opening it did not work.
Quitting VLC and restarting worked.

So, I went to the web site to download 2.06 and the same thing happens.

Used a backup to restore 2.01

Audio type for those videos is A52 (AC3) 3F2RLFE (aka: Dolby 5.1)

Oh, I forgot. V:C 2.06 also crashed the mac (yeah, a real crash with register dumps etc) when I tried to pause a "silent" video (aka one where the dolby sound was not being outputted).

I was getting the audio dropouts every 30 seconds or so under 2.0.6 and 2.0.5. Downgraded to 2.0.0 and all is well again. Going to stick on this version until it sounds as though this has been resolved.

You can try VLC 2.1.0 too.

I too have this problem, with 2.0.6. I have tried to completly uninstall VLC (with AppCleaner) and download it again, i hava also tried the latest nightly build. No change, still clipping. Then i tried to downgrade, first 2.0.5, 2.0.4, then a jump to 2.0.1, where the problem stopped. But then just for fun back to 2.0.6, an skipping is back. Then i tried 2.0.3 and no problem. So in my case there is a problem between 2.0.4 and 2.0.3.

But i must say im a little unsure if this is VLC or a system thing. Because i know 100% that 2.0.5 did work at some point.

But cannot remember when i upgraded my OS. If it was before or after skipping started.

I have a Mac Mini 2011.

I have the same issue as Alapalooza.
Mac mini from mid 2011 if memory serves and connected to Denon AVR-3311 with HDMI. Tried another HDMI cable. Have tried to install Maverics on a completely new SSD and am running 2.1.0 VLC player (not sure if it's 32 or 64bit).

Similar dropouts maybe 10 times per movie. My amplifier reacts to those cutouts by changing the screen for a half a second. Too quick to really get a real glimpse what it says. Probably just changing from DTS to something else.

This might be hardware issue (Mac mini or amp) but if it's not then I would say it has something to do with VLC. I'm using Spotify on that same computer and that never does that. Then again it send data as stereo. Maybe I should try a movie with stereo sound.
Will keep you updated.

Hi. I just registered on the forum to say thank you to trobbelke and muddles17 for their above posts on this thread.

I love VLC and have used it for years but I suddenly developed this problem with skipping audio after installing an automatic update to v2.1.1. Having followed the suggestion and the link provided to downgrade to v2.0.0, VLC is now working perfectly again.

I've that trouble using S/PDIF digital output by optical fiber connected to my Denon amplifier 5.1, when I was with 2.1.0 the audio drops rarely and only one time, or less, per video with AC3/DTS surround audio (not for stereo), but after upgrade to 2.1.1 I've more drops per video and for every video with stereo or surround audio, it's really frustrating!

I'm using iMac 27" late 2012, core i7 3.4Ghz, 32Gb, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680MX 2 GB, Fusion drive (splitted in 2 drives) and OSX Mavericks

Please share your logs. Does it work fine if you don't use S/PDIF?

I just tested this with iTunes rental movie. No problems whatsoever but I'm still having the same cutout issue with VLC.
Any updates? Is there a way I could help to solve this?

An iTunes rental movie will not play at all in VLC, IIRC. So this is no real help, better would be to test free sources. You can help us by giving a VLC log when a cutout occurs.

I was just testing if that was really a VLC issue and not just a general issue with my Mini Mac. It also seems that it only occurs with DTS audio track or at least what my amplifier understands as DTS.

This is an old version, why don't people just download the latest version and delete or move this thread?
