fullscreen preference sometimes

Postby alpinestars69 » 28 Mar 2013 15:32

if you have your preferences to start a video in full screen mode what does that really mean? my setting is checked to start in full screen & sometimes it does just that but there are other videos where the player/interface/screen is very small ( like the size of a credit card ) or ( the annoying one ) it opens & is almost full screen & when the video has ended the player is in playlist view & covering your library so basically you have to close it out to get it out of the way.

i guess what i am asking is , is there a way to have all of your videos open, play, close all the same. i can usually get the look i want to see but that is after having to double click & aspect ratio adjust, crop adjust. how can i not have to do a bunch of adjusting on certain video clips every time???

You want the videos to be played in full screen mode and have their dimensions maximised to fit the screen, and for every video in your playlist?
Providing logs, messages, configuration info (VLC, OS, Hardware) and a clear explanation of the issue always helps the problem solvers help you, even if they don't end up solving the issue. Just think what you would need if you were solving someone else's problem. Additional: Always looking for eager and capable MacOS X developers to join the VLC team - for more information see here.

ok thank you ajmas for your input & so that we understand each other: i want the video to be played in full screen mode ( i am referring to that option in vlc preferences when checked the yellow explanation pop up says that video will start in full screen ) my pref's have this checked yes. and i need to maximize dimensions to fit the screen, every video in the playlist. why i am confused about this is because i have video clips taken on the same day with the same video camera without anything being changed from any of the clips & some will open full screen others will not. any idea what can cause this?? i really do not understand it at all.

now if you would also point me in the right direction to properly max out dimensions i would be appreciated. one last question when you replied that all of the videos in the "playlist" need to be maxed out i just want to be sure, playlist & or library ?? are you saying that if i had say one video not adjusted it can prevent the rest from having full screen ability?? i only want to be sure.

thank you again

Do you have a couple of samples you could provide that show the differing behaviour, for the video from your video camera?

Normally the video should be maximised, while in full screen mode.

i have no idea what you mean by this. samples as in post a couple of clips to show you what i am experiencing or info from the codes etc. of the clips that i am talking about? i really am thanking you for your help & really want to learn this. if there is a source for me to learn this stiff that would be great(tutorials) because i have a lot of questions about vlc.

a couple of clips, so I can see the differing behaviour.
