audio ok, but no video

Postby rumpumpel1 » 08 Feb 2013 16:32

Fresh install of Mountain Lion and vlc-2.0.5.
Audio is ok but there is no video. I found
some postings in this forum describing the
same problem, but any solution mentioned in
those postings did'nt help me.
So is there any new insight in this problem ?

Please elaborate on "no video". Do you see a black screen or something? can you do a screenshot of VLC when trying to play a video?

starting vlc shows the playlist, opening a movie shows the movie in the playlist,
a small window appears telling me that there is no OpenGL acceleration, I can
hear the sound and thats it.

Please give details on your Mac. additionally, do you use VNC or Apple Remote Desktop to connect to it or are you seated in front of it?

Sorry, but we don't support Hackintosh devices. Looks like your device lacks a driver for Quartz Extreme acceleration, which is an absolute must-have for video playback within VLC. So, as soon as you install one, the message will go away and you'll experience the normal VLC behavior.

ok, but then the message telling me that there is no OpenGL accelearation available
should be corrected, because at the end it says: but it will work anyway.

Sorry, looks like your case is part of the "possibly unexpected results" mentioned in the message.

Good luck!

I fixed some problems with recognizing my Sata controller by exchanging a kext.
By this the resolution of my desktop was corrected (don't ask why the resolution
depends on the SATA controller) and also my problem with vlc has been resolved.
So now everything works as expected.
