Preferences for 10.5.8 PowerPC

Any preference suggestions for Version 2.0.2 Twoflower (PowerPC 32bit) on 10.5.8 - 1 GHz PowerPC G4 - 1 MB L3 chache - 2 GB DDR SDRAM ?
I have interface and viewing problems.

Frankly 1080p and maybe even 720p are likely beyond the capabilities of your hardware. With VLC 1.x I had problems with 1080p on a dual 2.7 GHZ G5.

You can try:

Preferences -> Show All -> Video

Check "Drop late frames" and "Skip frames"

Preferences -> Show All -> Input / Codecs -> Video codecs -> x264

Check "Skip loop filter"

Preferences -> Show All -> Input / Codecs -> Video codecs -> FFmpeg

Set "Skip the loop filter for H.264 decoding" to All

Note that disabling the Loop Filter can have a very negative effect on some video's picture quality, because you're sacrificing quality for playability.

Also, make sure not to sharpen the videos or use other video filters that may increase cpu usage.

You may need to restart VLC for some changes to take effect.

Btw I dont watch all, just checking videos. So do you have any further suggestions for VLC or G4's cpu settings?

I have the same hardware, and even with all those settings, VLC 2.0.2 will drop half the frames on a basic 700mb xvid video, whereas VLC 1.1.9 didn't drop any.

I think the default "Drop media here" screen always works that way.

Alternatively, you can option-click the playlist button and it will change to playlist view instead and you can drop videos in without them beginning to play even with Auto Start checked.

I got VLC 1.1.9 and this one plays everything with your settings untill a new machine ill use 1.1.9

VLC 1.1.12 is the latest of that line. I see so many posts of people reverting to 1.1.9 instead a 1.1.12 that I though I'd point that out here.
