In case VLC is in fullscreen mode, it should be the front-most application. To make sure, move the mouse to see if the fullscreen controller panel appears.

Does your Apple Remote work in other apps?

Yes, my apple remote woks fine with other application… The problem exist just with VLC.
It's very strange, because it worked normaly, and suddenly… no more remote with VLC.

Sounds like a silly question: "Control playback with the Apple Remote" is checked in the Interface category of VLC's preferences on your Mac, right?

i had same problem. u should install Candelair , install the driver , uninstall it and reboot. Now check "Control playback with the Apple Remote" ( VLC Preferences) . Try ur remote.
