Optical Audio in OSX Lion

Hi, I´m having a problem setting up my Imac to passtrough DTS to the optical out port...... Mi Imac had OSX Leopard and VLC and all was working perfect with Leopard 5.1 and DTS worked perfect via the optical port to my Yamaha Home theater....... now with OSX Lion and the last version of VLC I cant get 5.1 and DTS in my home theater via optical port just 2.0 ..... what should i do?? any advice on this??
