How do you flip a video horizontally with VLC for Mac?

Postby hotarukoi » 18 Sep 2008 07:41

Help! I have an instructional video that I literally have to mimic, but in order to do that I need to watch the video's mirror image. I tried to find out how to do this but I could only figure out the Windows information - the menus don't seem to be the same on the Mac version. Could anyone please tell me, in layman's terms, how to play back my video in a mirror image of itself? I'll love you forever.

Unfortunately there is no UI for that in the Mac version... You should field a trac ticket.

Your other option is to look in the advanced pref. and find your way there to the mirror effect...

I tried accomplish the same thing for a thai chi video and found the answer here:

1. Go to VLC > Preferences...
2. Expand the Video section and select Filters.
3. Tick the Video Transformation Filter checkbox (see pic).
4. Expand the Filters section and select Transformation
5. Select Flip Vertically (it should be flip horizontally really, but I guess this is a mistake) from the Transform Type (see pic).

Is there a quicker way of setting this? I only want it mirrored for one video so it's kind of a hassle to go in and change this twice(on, off) every time I want to watch the one video.
