VLC wont open srt and sub files

HI! I'm having trouble opening my films with subtitles. this error message appears

It opened the file, so it may be an encoding issue? Try opening it in a text editor and then save it as UTF-8 with BOM.

And after i open the file as a text edit file? its not working...

Try an application such as TextWrangler. You will have much more control over this.
