Stream from iTunes functionality?

Hi, I'm running Snow Leopard and VLC 1.02.

I want to simultaneously stream the music that's playing in iTunes to several computers/speakers in my house. While I was able to sort of pull this off using the DirectShow plugin when using iTunes on Windows, there seems to be no equivalent plugin for OSX (the lack of DirectX being the first major error.) Is there some way I can achieve this in the current version, or is there a plugin available for iTunes/VLC which would enable this?

A quick Google search revealed that most people for some reason want to do it the other way around (stream VLC to iTunes) but the page I did find was from this forum, and from 2005. It also failed to resolve the issue.

The reasons I want to use iTunes are both because I'm already familiar with it, all of my music is already there and the iPhone remote app works wonderfully with my existing setup. So please no one try to convince me to use a VLC-to-VLC setup because I've tried it and it just isn't working. (Not technically, I just don't prefer VLC as anything other than a single-file media player/streamer).
