There has been a solution using terminal; which doesn't work.
Another solution by 'deleting preferences' which does not actually disable/ remove the feature.
Any solutions? Thanks again

However, there's already a preference for this in VLC, so the command line is not needed./usr/bin/sudo /usr/bin/chflags schg /Users/YOUR_NAME/Library/Preferences/org.videolan.vlc.plist
You are mistaking everything here.Ok on main simple preferences panel exists "Privacy / Network Interaction" - "Save recently played items". I disable this checkbox and the "Media - Recent Media" menu in VLC goes away.
HOWEVER - Videos played STILL get added to Windows Recent Documents, which is the behavior I cannot disable. VLC 0.86 did not do this.
Is there a preference or setting that will disable videos from adding to the Windows Recent Documents profile (Start Menu... Documents)? If so can you state explicitly the title of this option? Thank you.
Open your files from VLC, not from explorer...I understand. It's unfortunate I cannot disable this in v1.0 but nonetheless, thanks for the answer.
Ah, but that's precisely my issue. Thats what I'm doing, and it still adds them as Recent Documents!Open your files from VLC, not from explorer...
Do you happen to know which version it didn't happen in? Then we could compare the code changes between the two.just chiming in to confirm that this is new in the recent version, and that it seems to be behaving differently than other windows apps.
eg:
* open VLC, no content
* drag-and-drop a file from windows explorer into VLC
--> file is added to windows's recent documents menu
in the previous version the file would not be added to the recent docs.
