9.8a & BDMV = Video but no sound

Postby steen » 18 Jan 2009 23:07

Hi All,

Hope somebody can shed some light and help me out here! :D

I've been trying to playback a BDMV file on two different Macs, get the full video at 1080p, but absolutely no audio.

Looking under Audio drop down menu, the Audio Device is grayed out. I don't see any options in preferences either.

Any advice?

Thanks in Advance!

Um, not quit sure what you mean by messages :?: It did not give me any kind of error if that is what you mean...

Sorry, I'm not a real knowledgable VLC user but if you tell me how to get the messages, I will do so :)

Is VLC capable of BDMV playback?

Thanks!

Display the messages dialog with verbosity set to 2 and paste them here.

Thanks 4 help J-B.

How to set verbosity? I had no idea how to set verbosity, but I am tenacious LOL so think I found a way.

I found the message window, but was not able to find the verbosity settings in the advanced preferences settings. I did find reference to verbosity in the vlcrc preference file so I changed it to two (2). I hope this is correct. I have no idea how to start up vlc in terminal with the correct flags... that was college and Pascal decades ago.

I dropped the whole folder onto VLC, let it play 4 a while and then paused.

Here is message window contents:

OK. Can you try latest Nightly Build?

The latest nightly doesn't even play the video. If i drop the folder on the dock shorcut, it tries to play the .clpi file. If I drop the .m2ts file into VLC, nothing happens as well. :( When I try to quit the prog. it freezes with spinning colour wheel. Have to force quit.

FWIW, Plex plays the .m2ts file just fine so I think the material is OK.

What next?

BTW, how to set verbosity=2?

I downloaded the m2ts sample from this thread viewtopic.php?f=12&t=54393 and it works fine. It still crashes when I try to quit the prog. though.

I'm seeing this issue with all installations of the latest version (1.0.0 Goldeneye); the application freezes each time I exit. I've (re)installed it on many different systems - laptops and desktops - and the symptoms persist. I believe all my systems are running some iteration of Leopard but this is definitely happening with 10.5.7 and 10.5.8.

When you have to force quit a frozen application you should get a 'crash reporter' window. If you do could you submit log?
Providing logs, messages, configuration info (VLC, OS, Hardware) and a clear explanation of the issue always helps the problem solvers help you, even if they don't end up solving the issue. Just think what you would need if you were solving someone else's problem. Additional: Always looking for eager and capable MacOS X developers to join the VLC team - for more information see here.
