Problems opening

Postby Stringer630 » 22 Jul 2008 03:52

I've tried using VLC on my Macbook (Santa Rosa Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz, OS 10.5.4) with no success. I download the disc image and drag the VLC application to my applications folder without problems. When I launch VLC the icon appears in the dock, bounces 3 to 5 times and then disappears, as though it has unexpectedly quit, but without an error message. I've tried this with a number of different builds and none of them seem to work.

The only thing that I think could be the problem is that I recently used a program called Monolingual that removes PPC components from universal binaries, as I don't need them having an Intel chipset. I haven't had any problems with any other applications and installing new ones.

Any suggestions?

Have you tried downloading the Intel Mac specific package as opposed to the universal binary version?

Tried using the intel specific package (0.8.6i) and still no luck. Bounces in the dock a few times, then disappears.
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

Got it working. Used Appcleaner to remove all traces of VLC from my system then reinstalled and it working fine. Hope it helps anyone else with a similar problem.
