Display frame

Postby cannonjr » 22 Jun 2008 23:12

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to view the frame count during playback either in addition to or in place of the time?

Thanks much,

Jason

As far as I know this is not possible. There would be little benefit as most video streams have a constant FPS (notably 23.976 (NTSC), 25 (PAL), 29.97 (NTSC)). If you press "Ctrl+I" and go to the "Advanced information" tab, depending on the media, the frame rate should be displayed.

I need a precise measure of the time during slow-motion playback. The display time is only to the second. Knowing the frame rate and the frame count would give me a much more precise measure of time, since the fps is 30. Other media viewers are able to display the frame count, but will only playback at 1/2 speed or faster. I am using videos for quantifying scientific data and need to view them at at less than 1/2 speed and need as precise a meausre of time as possible. Any help?

I too am using VLC for scientific analysis of video and it would be very beneficial for me to have a frame counter. Any help would be appreciated here too.

Patches are welcome. Look at the OSD code.
