Fullscreen on 2nd monitor doesn't work anymore

Postby captainCQCK » 27 Apr 2008 13:31

Hey,

I connected my Macbook with my HD-TV (using my TV as my 2nd Monitor).
Usually (I had 0.8.6d before) I just had to pull the controller and the video window on my 2nd monitor's desktop and double click it to play it fullscreen on that monitor.

But now with version 0.8.6f, if I have the controller and video window there and double click it, the video is shown in fullscreen on the 1st Monitor. It doesn't detect anymore that I want to have fullscreen on the 2nd.

I'd really appreciate a solution.

Cheers,

Cap.CQCK

I have also have a problem with full screen on my MacBook with a second display. I suspect the problem is not the same though.

The problem is that VLC fails to properly recognise the second display. Dragging a window to the second display and entering fullscreen results in full screen on the MacBook, the video device "Screen 2" must be manually selected from the video menu to achieve full screen on the second display.

If a movie is open and the video cable is connected, it will not be recognised; there will be no "Screen 2" option available until the movie is reopened.

I first noticed this when using version 0.8.6e, but using earlier versions known to work unsuccessfully leads me to believe the Leopard Graphics Update changed the API in some way? Version 0.8.6f exhibits the same behaviour.

i have the same problem, when connecting my old tv to the mac. With 0.8.6d i could watch the movies in fullscreen on my tv, but since 0.8.6e and above, i can't watch in fullscreen-mode anymore.

I have this problem also on my Intel MacBook since 0.8.6e.

I have temporary solution. When you go to menu: Video -> Video device -> and choose Default, than will work ok.
But after you close VLC and start again this setting will be back to Screen 1, which is bad.

I think, that this setting is in Preferences also, but I have no idea where :(
Anyone knows where this settings can be?

I too am having this issue on a Mac Pro running two 23" Cinema displays.

Thanks crax for the heads up on the monitor selection, pity is doesnt stay selected between sessions.

I also had a look through the preferences and was unable to find were to make monitor 2 the default.

HI,

I have the same problem with MacBook Pro and a second screen. It worked on 0.8.6e the last time I think. Since 0.8.6f up to current h it'S not working any more.

Did anyone contact the Mac OS X author/developer?

All the best
Christoph

for me 0.8.6.c is the last version where it recognizes the setting for default video device.

on 0.8.6h:
if i set it to "2" and then make the video go full screen it still stays on the primary screen. can this be fixed pleaassse???
