Re: Video device - Change default to screen 2

Hi everybodyy!

So well... I've got this 'fullscreen' problem with 0.8.6e, 0.8.6d and earlier worked like charm. I have a MacBook with an external display, both in use most of the time. VLC just doesn't work as explected, and nothing in the settings I've tried thus far helps. Except, I may not have yet tried to delete .perfs... Which I'll do now.
No. Doesn't help. In 0.8.6c I think I had to move the main program to the window in which I'd want the fullscreen video. Maybe it was 0.8.6d that was the best, it chose the display in which the video was playing in a normal window for fullscreen.. I'm trying to find 0.8.6d now to get it back... But 0.8.6e just keeps the full screen video in the 'apple' display.

Oh, and I never had any problems with the Apple remote, it just worked I suppose...

AAand I've been using VGA -cable adapter and the S-VIDEO (PAL) adapter... And several different external displays too, they all worked well with 0.8.6d

I don't think the fullscreen displaying on the chosen video device is a bug in VLC 0.8.6E. Actually, that's how it should work. The only reason it seems like a bug now is because the default display is still broken. If that could be fixed, then the fullscreen option would be perfect (at lease for me).

Too bad... I had it working in version D.... not in version E anymore :(

Can it having to do something with keeping 2 versions? Or having to delete the prefs file first, than installing version E and (re)setting everything by hand?

There doesn't seem to be anything wrong with the part of setting the screen to default two. The Problem seems to be, that when saving the settings, the particular setting for using the interface module macosx isn't saved with the rest of the settings.

So, if the saving part also could actually save which module one has chosen, it would be working as it should be.

I've tried to cut'n'past code from the 'c'-version that actually works as it should be, to 'f'-version, but with very little success, probably since my coding skill is very limited at best.

Well if it ain't that, what is it? Any news from the developers?

Add me to the list of folks using 'c' because 'f' still breaks automatically opening videos on the second screen (I have a projector connected to the computer in a home theater setup so auto-fullscreen and auto-second-monitor are crucial for a good experience).

Downloading the source now to see if I can help fix this.

Hello,

I just wanted to post a quick note, because this feature still does not work with the new VLC version:
0.8.6i
(on Mac OS X 10.5.4)

I successfully activated the Mac OS X interface, because I ticked the "black screens in fullscreen" option,
and that works.

But putting "2" in the "video device" box has no effect at all.

I know its just a tiny and uncritical bug, but if you guys have a patch for it, it still would be great to put that fix in the release :)

cheers, Benjamin.

I have been plagued by this very bug since 0.8.6e. I am extremely disapointed in the VLC development community to have ignored this problem for us Mac OS X users, essentially leaving us hanging on this bug for this long. Please add time to your development schedule to fix this!

many thanx!

Check out this link for more info: viewtopic.php?f=12&t=47291

Basically, this feature won't be fixed until VLC 0.9.0. However, just so you know, it's been fixed in the nightly builds so if you need this feature badly, you should go ahead and use the nightly build. Have fun!
