WMP/MMS Streams

I have read through the VLC help pages and searched under 'WMP' in the forums but I'm stumped. On a G4 PPC with 1 GB RAM and OSX 10.4.10, I am trying to listen to the live audio stream of WVMT-620 http://www.newstalk620wvmt.com/ Burlington, VT, at [url]mms://70.85.123.3/wvmt8641[/url] using VLC 0.8.6c. I get error messages ending with these 5 lines:

main error: no suitable decoder module for fourcc `wmas'.
VLC probably does not support this sound or video format.
main debug: killing decoder fourcc `wmas', 0 PES in FIFO
access_mms warning: unimplemented query in control
main debug: `mms://70.85.123.3/wvmt8641' successfully opened

Yes, I have QT and yes, I've used flip4mac which is the worst disaster I've encountered for a audio plug-in since my Apple II days. I've removed all traces of flip4mac. I still have the 2003 Microsoft WMP v9 for the PPC, but that won't do me any good when I upgrade equipment in the next few months.
So... my question is what am I doing wrong in the configuration of VLC to listen to streaming WMP audio or video programming? Thanks very much!
