"Open Recent" not working

Items do not remain in the "Open Recent" list under the file menu when VLC is started.
When I play an item it appears in the recently played menu but after restarting VLC it disappears.
This is an issue for VLC version 0.8.6c running on an Intel Mac with OS X version 10.4.10.

I now have two items in the recently played menu, that won't stay away when I choose to "clear menu". Also, new items do not remain in the open recent menu.
Has anyone else had problems with this? Any suggestions?

i'm having the same problem. recently played will clear however after restarting vlc the old deleted playlist is back. i uninstalled vlc and and then reinstalled and it stopped the issue briefly but then it returned again. have repeated a few times but always the same result. Obviously a bug. hopefully VLC is aware of it.

Nope, we aren't aware of this issue. Please use the "Delete Preferences" script provided on VLC's disk-image and keep checking whether the problem re-occurs. Thanks!

Open Recent does not work for me either.

I've run a few vids, clear the Open Recent menu list, and quit.

Start VLC again and ... voila! The very list I "cleared" reappears.

Again and again.

This IS a bug. I've had this happen for quite some time, but never posted. I'm glad I'm not alone in this.

Side suggestion: An option NOT to save recent items a la Quicktime Player.

Did this. The problem does re-occur. Repeatedly.

And FYI my OS X.5 install is a clean install (i.e. fully erased drive then installed X.5). VLC was also a clean reinstall. Nothing was imported from previous OS X.4. So, there's no way the previous VLC installation can be the problem; I'd have to conclude there's something wrong with VLC 0.8.6c, at least in the way it treats the "recent" list. BTW, this problem has been seen in both X.4 & X.5.

For those of you running into the issue did you clear the preferences and then relaunch the application?

I tested with VLC 1.1.0 and MacOS X 10.6.4, where it worked for me.

ajmas, I have cleared the preferences. I have also deleted org.videolan.vlc.LSSharedFileList.plist, where VLC seems to store Recent list.

Open Recent doest work even when I don't quit it — it just doesn't remember ole file when I open a new movie in the same instance of player.

The "Open Recent" menu isn't working for me either, anymore. None of the avi files I open show up in the menu. However, this was not always the case. I recently cleared the list, and now it doesn't work at all. Deleted preferences via the script. Using VLC 1.1.0, Mac OS 10.6.4. Any help?
