I've tried VLC 0.8.6b.
First I clean all the VLC 0.8.4a files (the latest version working with OS 10.3.9 and Quicktime 7.1.5) and ................VLC 0.8.6b do exactely the same thing than VLC 0.8.6a crash after 1 Seconde when opening a movie.......
Is there a solution without downgrading QT 7.1.5 to QT 7.1.3 ??????
Jean-baptiste,
j'ai bien eu ton lien mais je ne saisis pas (l'anglais technique) la subtilité d' Application Enhancer qui semble posé des problèmes à pas mal de gens (quand je suis sur les forums des gens qui utilisent Application Enhancer).
Pourrais-tu me donner la marche à suivre si tu as le temps?
Merci d'avance

Do some people, who have 0S 10.3.9 + Quicktime 7.1.5 and no "Application Enhancer", try to install "Application Enhancer" after for making VLC 0.8.6(a/b) working well?
(really sorry for my poor english writting....hope you will understand what I mean...)
@vlovej: nope, installing App Enhancer is no solution, as already stated on the other thread.
Anyway, please provide the crash log for VLC as I can run it on 10.3.9 without any problems. Additionally, run the "Delete Preferences" script on VLC's disk-image to make sure that your Mac-environment is clean.

Just upgraded to QuickTime 7.1.6 and now VLC 0.8.6b opens and plays WITHOUT having to have VLC in the Master Exclude list of Unsanity's Application Enhancer 2.0.3.
Still having the VERY annoying problem – as MANY others seem to be as well – of VLC crashing upon closing/quitting – sometimes it takes several seconds before the crash dialog box comes up, so I don't know if it's REALLY crashing or what?!
I'm running an otherwise good, solid, Mac OS 10.3.9.
