Quicktime 7.1.6

Postby chryse » 02 May 2007 02:40

QT 7.1.6 is wanting to update now, but after 7.1.5 I don't want to until I know it doesn't interfere with VLC 0.8.6 again. I had enough headaches.

Anyone know yet?

I'd like to know too. Just updating VLC player and I'm wondering if it's safe to update Quicktime this time around.

I'm running OS X 10.3.9 with QT 7.1.5 and installed VLC 0.8.6b yesterday. I could start the application, but when I tried to play a movie, it crashed. Today I installed Apple's security update 4/2007 and QT 7.1.6, and now I can play a movie without a crash. The only remaining problem is a crash at exit.

Update:

Just upgraded to QuickTime 7.1.6 and now VLC 0.8.6b opens and plays WITHOUT having to have VLC in the Master Exclude list of Unsanity's Application Enhancer 2.0.3.

Still having the VERY annoying problem – as MANY others seem to be as well – of VLC crashing upon closing/quitting – sometimes it takes several seconds before the crash dialog box comes up, so I don't know if it's REALLY crashing or what?!

I'm running an otherwise good, solid, Mac OS 10.3.9.

Thanks.

So the first problem was related to QT, not to VLC.

About the exit bug, we are working on it.

Yes, it appeared to be a QuickTime problem of some sort.

Glad to hear the exit bug problem is being addressed – thank you! (Not that you weren't aware of and/or working on it all along, but always nice to see an actual reply indicating such. Thanks again for what must be a TON of time and hard work on this program!)
