Noob Question: Error every time I start VLC, ALSO; Buggy.

Postby roboknob » 01 May 2007 22:39

Hello! I just had to join the forums, this error is getting really annoying.

Every time I start VLC I get the message: "main: You cannot run the MacOS X module as an extra interface. Please read the README.MacOSX.rtf file."

I cant even find that readme... My other problem with VLC is that it crashes almost every time. I think its the computers problem, this ibook G4 has had multiple Logic Board failures, 4 to be precise, When it starts to crap out it usually messes with programs. Also it usually craps out when the computer gets hot(or turns on its fan). Its annoying.

Thank you guys for any help you can give me, I would love to watch videos on this laptop by simply clicking on the file and watching the video, uninterrupted...

If it makes you feel ANY better, you're not the ONLY one that has a crash-prone VLC on a Mac. I assume you've checked out many of the other threads here and found that out already?! Don't know if it's an OS problem, a QuickTime problem, and application enhancer problem, a VLC problem, or all the above. Regardless, VLC IS the most problematic and crash-prone piece of software on my computer, bar none. Since I finally got the most recent version to actually WORK, I'd say it still crashes – usually upon quitting/closing VLC in some form or another – about 80 - 90% of the time Again, if you haven't already, check out some of the related threads on this first page this forum. Good luck.

P.S. Gotta' keep VLC around, because it's still the only thing that'll play some of my vid files that nothing else will! LOL... talk about a love, hate relationship!!!
