Opening files over a home network

Postby yoe » 08 Mar 2007 03:30

Hey there,

I have a big monster PC, my roomate has a small weak apple iBook G4.

Big monster PC has lots of movies / tv shows on it, folder is shared with the mac.

When I open video files through quicktime they are really slow and jumpy,

VLC Player on the mac doesn't want to open them at all,
OR sometimes it will open them but give an error that there was a break longer than 5 seconds.

I know the lan speed is ok, because it takes about 3 minutes to copy a 30 minute video from my computer to hers, so how do I get VLC to have a bigger buffer when playing the movies? just be a little more patient?
