8.6a Playback problems under Mac Intel Duo Tiger

Postby 23skidoo » 06 Jan 2007 03:29

Hi

I installed version 8.6a today and I wish I hadn't deleted 8.5. I'm running a Mac Intel Duo with 10.4.8 and I've found the following problems:

1. DVD playback is very choppy - almost slide-show slow. Mac's onboard DVD player plays the images smoothly.

2. On FLV and AVI playback, the video automatically closes once it plays once. It also closes whenever I go to click the progress bar to fast forward to the section I need to access.

Any workarounds or should I revert to 8.5?

Cheers

Alex

another (audio) bug

(I have not the above explained problem, but another instead)

VLC MacOSX:
Problem with audio playback. You can hear a loud "tuck"!
Occurs in recent stable version (release 0.8.6a) as well in nightly build (http://nightlies.videolan.org/build/mac ... 7-0124.dmg).

No problem with v0.8.5!

I uploaded a small demo video at http://freenet-homepage.de/Korbinian/77 ... c_demo.avi
(the bug is at 22s)

hey alex, even though i just joined the forums, i thought i would commemorate the occasion by making my first post of a helpful nature. i too was having similar issues with flv and avi in 8.6a, i am also on a mac with the intel core-duo chip and running tiger. some avi files did play without a hitch and some did not, almost all flv files though caused vlc to crash after a few seconds of playback or immediately after using the seek bar. so i took a chance and tried a nightly, the most recent nightly branch build;

http://nightlies.videolan.org/build/mac ... 8-0330.dmg

seems to have fixed this problem. try it out and you might find yourself pleasantly surprised. :)
