VLC 0.8.6a crashes after a few moments....

Postby AlienWarrior » 28 Feb 2007 03:42

In most cases, VLC runs flawlessly, but in some cases while playing DIVX or AVI files, the system will crash.

I'm using a Macbook Pro with 2GB of RAM, on Mac OS X 10.4.8.

Thanks for any help posted.

I have a similar problem, whenever I try to launch VLC 0.8.6a, I get an error message ("the application quitted unexpectedly"). This happens regardless of whether I double-click the icon, launch it through Quicksilver, or select a file and choose "open with...". Worse of all, it just started happening this morning. I've tried deleting the application and downloading-reinstalling it again, but it hasn't worked.

I'm using an iBook G4 with a 1.83 GHz PPC processor, 1.5 GB RAM, and OS 10.4.8

Cheers

This happened to me also when I opened .86a for the first time. The DMG package contains an applescript that clears your preferences. Use that to clear your prefs, empty your trash, and everything should work like butter. It did for me. :D Hope this helps.
