The VideoLAN Forums

I've been using VLC for some time so I understand the basics about it, but I can't seem to be able to make it do exactly what I want to; I would like to be able to define a set of files (with different codecs and resolutions) and re-encode them (in real-time) so I can broadcast them with vlc through my LAN, sort of like a tv channel.

If VLC can do that I would really appreciate some pointers.
