I am a little confused reading the forums? Is is possible as of Aug 2006 for vlc to stream content like a helix box? i.e. where users can access content by just clicking a url?
I have experience in installing helix servers. We have cases where
the real producer box is in a remote site , away from the helix box.
The real producer box (dynamic ip) can push the encoded stream to the helix box ( fixed ip) to be served to users.
Additionally this kind of a setup also became useful where the remote
site did not have a fixed ip ( dynamic dns/router port forwarding not
possible) and therefore had to push content to the helix box which had
a fixed ip.
1. Can a vlc solution do the same with two servers ? i.e. one box
to do the encoding and then push the stream to another vlc box to serve requests over the internet , which can be received by say real player or windows media player ?
