Hello,

I would like to know if it is possible to use vlm to make a vod sever of wmv files. The files will be played into a web page using windows media player.

I have no problem to do broacast of wmv with mmsh protocol (works great !), but with vod it doesn't work

I have readen that rtsp protocol doesn't work with media player, and i verify that is true
But http also doesn't work :( (starting vlc with --http-host xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:yyyy)
vlc command line with --mmsh-host doesn't work to ....

Can anyone help me ?

PS : sorry for my english

you can't serve vod files to wmp using VLC (except if you use http ... but then you're better off putting your files on an apache web server)

Thanks for this quick response :D

I will look to the apache solution; but why can we do broadcast of wmv files and not vod ? Is it impossible for a technical reason or just because it's not implemented ?

ccc, just curious ;)

because AFAIK, VLC doesn't implement the VoD protocol used by WMP. But you could still do it with http streaming in VLC ... but that's kind of taking a lot of risks instead of using apache (or any http web server)
