all Telnet commands - special for deleting one input

Postby schaaff » 24 Feb 2006 17:54

In general i have a question:
Does anybody have a full telnet command overview. like a big command documentation.

i have a command overview for parameters for starting vlc but the most don't work in telnet. is their a list with all telnet commands ?

in special i'm looking for a command that i can delete a input file from a vod-channel. with setup vod_channel input i can add a file. but how can i del one file without deleting the whole channel.

thanks a lot

ihope my english is not so bad

i have tested the beta version 0.8.5 and there is a telnet command for deleting input files

so i think in the actual stable version there is no opportunity to do that. but a bug in the beta is that when you delete a input file the file is deleted from the playlist(on "save test.cfg" the config file doesn't have the filename inside) but when you play the stream the aspect ratio from the deleted video is used and the videomaterial from the correct video is mapped on the wrong resolution but the audio is working.

maybe in the stable there is a working inputdel opportunity

i recognized that the inputdeln was already a command in 0.8.4 in the stable one.
but if you delete a video the next video in the playlist is shown in the resolution or aspect ratio of the first. so this might be a real bug of the stable version.

also not working is the playlist at vod. when i did "show channel_name" there where multiple files for input but just the first file is shown at the client.
the others are ignored. only when i delete the first but then i get the buggy video as described

i worked the whole day on a solution.
know i am trying to do the playlist thing with broadcasts to many ip's. it works. but if the videos in the input-playlist have different aspect ratios or resolutions the video won't be displayed on the client.

i was also making a loop and when the filelist is getting to the first file i joined the stream it plays well because same res. same aspect ratio.
i tried to solve it with transcode{width=320,height=200} -> same problem

does anybody have a solution

i am despaired. i tried everything on making a playlist with different files, making a loop and playing it on 3 clients. after several loops the clients stop. they just play audio no more video.
also when i stop the channel by "del media" and reload the config and play the same channel the clients don't go on. i have to stop the clients and start them again. then it works for several loops and again.
but i want to have standaloneclients working 24/7.

does anybody have a solution or the same problem ?

p.s.: if the clients stop the process-time is at 99% alltime. (clientproblem or serverproblem?)

all together i am really frustrated about the vlc-streaming solution. it is very unstable. you have to have good luck to make a good job.
