Using SAP to annouce VLM Video on Demand Objects

Postby rossmac » 06 Aug 2005 21:32

I have been using VLC for sometime and more recently VLM.

I have configured VLM as a server on Windows XP SP2 a while ago, and I have it serving a dozen or so VOD objects successfully.

However, the one feature that is missing from VLM is the ability to use SAP (or an equivalent protocol) to announce the availability of a range of VOD objects to a VLC client.

Is there a technical reason why SAP could not be used to announce VOD objects?

If there is no technical reason why SAP cannot be used with VOD objects, is there any intent to have the SAP and VOD subsystems interoperate together?
