VLM cannot classify the capture device in similar name

Postby Videoman » 21 Feb 2006 04:12

I am using vlc-0.8.5-svn-20060221-0001-win32.exe

If I use two model of logitech capture devices (Logitech QuickCam Pro 4000 & Logitech QuickCam Communicate STX)at the same time, VLM in Windows always choose Logitech QuickCam Communicate STX.

hello! Anyone here????

I knew that a ticket 519 "support for dshow devices with the same name" is opening.

If this ticket is completed, can my issue be fixed?

Albert

According to the roadmap, you have to wait for "0.8.6 features freeze".

In fact, you have to wait for someone to reboot on windows :) (and have directshow devices to test with)

Well the issue is already pinpointed. It's just that someone needs to take the time to rework the option box.

However without the DShow guru's it can take a while.

I know that there are only few USB WebCams with drivers that support multiple same model cameras.

Anyhow I wish that these options, "space" ' and # parcing fixes will some day see the light :)

My cents
