Hi,
I'm OldDeath from the Shareaza community and I'm posting to inform you that we recently had a case of signature spamming with a page we think distributes some fake version of VLC on http://www.gnutellaforums.com.

The page the suspected spammer linked to in his signature is: www*downloadvlcplayer*org

In case this is helpful, I can provide the poster's IP via PM (it is an IP from India, BTW).

mfg,
Old

PS.: You're creating a wonderful application here! I've been using it for some years now.

EDIT: Made the URL readable but unclickable (I think this is more useful).

BTW, it might be useful for new forum members to have a link to the forum rules in the main navigation bar, for example directly besides the FAQ link. I have been searching for the forum rules page for 5 min now after I got that "Please read the forum's rules carefully before posting. [...]" info while reviewing my own post and I was unable to locate the respective page.
It might be useful to have a link to the rues within the red info field, too.

I am the admin of the dvdfab forum, where we use, support and recommend VLC and MPC. This user has recently appeared on our forum as well. The "downloads" offered do not appear to be legit (filenames are wrong) and the website has some phishing-like features (and the IP used to register has many hits on stopforumspam.com). There are no links to videolan or even mentions of the true nature of VLC, they present it more or less as something they created. I have removed the user's sig where it appeared and banned the user as a spammer of the strength of the stopforumspam reports.
