videolan Forum Style 0.0.2

videolan Forum Style 0.0.2

I've made a new version of the forum style. It is based on the latest release of prosilver (3.0.2) so incorporates the new features in that.

Changelog:

Code: Select all

Changes since 0.0.1 ------------------- * New profile page ban feature (prosilver 3.0.2 update) [Moderator's only] * Implemented Evil Quick Reply mod * Modified the forum logo - has the original subtitles cone too * Added 12px padding on the bottom of #wrap (now matches prosilver theme) * Tweaked overall_header.html - the Forum name ("The VideoLAN Forums" is now an (ACP) changeable variable.
The Quick Reply mod should now work, providing all of the respective PHP files were edited too.

As posted in the "VideoLAN Forum Style" topic the forum header should look like this:

Image

If there is anything (jb, dionoea etc.) that you don't want/would like me to change just say.

Download Link (Megaupload - *.tar.bz2):
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=2KSGPPC1

After uploading refresh the cache in the ACP for "videolan" in "Template", "Themes" and "Imagesets" since there are changes in all of them.

Cheers, Arite.

For me (FF 3.0.3/IE 7/Opera 9.10) the new skin is broken, the videolan logo is not there where it should be.

For me (FF 3.0.3/IE 7/Opera 9.10) the new skin is broken, the videolan logo is not there where it should be.
That is because the videolan-logo class has a width of 120px. I updated it to 158px, however presumably the the videolan Theme has not be refreshed in the ACP (go to ACP >> Styles >> Themes >> and select "Refresh" for "videolan").

You can see it is 158px here:
styles/videolan/theme/videolan.css

Search for ".videolan-logo".

The Quick Reply still doesn't appear to work even though the Template (which I presume has been refreshed since the Profile page Moderator option and the new logo is display), so it must be that something is missing in the PHP files.

To fix the Forum logo, as I wrote above go to:
ACP >> Styles >> Themes >> and select "Refresh" for "videolan"

And, just in case it isn't also done (required for Quick Reply image, although not display ATM):
ACP >> Styles >> Imageset >> and select "Refresh" for "videolan"

Thanks :P.

Fair enough, was worth a try (not something I'd really use). It works on my test forum with this theme anyway.

The videolan Imageset and Theme still need refreshing though :P.

I can't because it is in the Administration Control Panel. I would do otherwise :).

With the Evil Quick Reply?

Since the Style is refreshed and works on my test forum (also - you can see {L_QUICK_REPLY} here - note that it is only display "<!-- IF S_QR_ENABLED -->", so can be in the template but no shown), the only thing I can think of is that either the edits to the PHP files have been lost on, for example, an upgrade (to 3.0.2), or were not done properly. The following changes need to be made to the PHP files (this is from install.xml in the Quick Reply Mod archive):

Code: Select all

Files to Edit * viewtopic.php, * includes/acp/acp_language.php, * includes/acp/acp_styles.php, * language/en/common.php, * language/en/acp/styles.php Included Files * root/includes/functions_quick_reply.php
functions_quick_reply.php appears to be there so must be something wrong/missing in the 5 other PHP files that need to be edited for the mod to work.

OK - well I'm out of ideas ATM. Since the cached version of the template says "IF S_QR_ENABLED", and it is not displayed, must be that... it isn't enabled. Although it is quite clearly assigned/enabled in functions_quick_reply.php...

It is version 1.0.1 right? The install.xml file for it:

It's OK to say, it's not like anyone reads j-b's posts anyway, so.... Kidding just kidding. :P

Very small insignificant abnormality. When using the Wii Internet Channel (Opera Browser), there's a part of the forum header missing at the top of the page, it just disappears near the Search bar. Like CloudStalker said, it's nothing too important, just thought that he might mention it.

Indeed indeed. So, it's not just the Wii IC, it's Opera Browser in general?

As Arite might have guessed, CloudStalker is currently using Wii IC, which is why he couldn't post any screen shot of this very minor problem.

Well I haven't tried Opera before... I'll just try it now.

It renders fine in Opera 9.63 (i386 Debian build).

So the main VideoLAN site http://www.videolan.org/ doesn't have the same issue? Since that header is pretty much identical.
