I've found a (trivial) inconvenience: it seems the Session-ID is only passed in the URL, so when I went to the tabs I already had with the threads I was waiting an answer for, hit login (opened in another tab) and enter my credentials, and the went back to the original tabs and hit Refresh, I wasn't logged in.

I had to either login in every tab to reply, or go back to the tab I logged-in on and browse for the threads from there. By the way, I also asked to be "remembered" but didn't work (this time, at least).

I hope that makes sense, looks a little confusing :?

You can take a chill pill., it'll help you to cone-centrate. :D

As for the look of the new forum, ah...um...I'll wait for some more skins to come. :D

I'm so glad the forum has been updated though. Hopefully this means less work for the Site Admin and Mods to do. :P

Well, it can help you to delete a spammer with ALL his posts :D

New look is cool. But, sadly, this is a bug report.

OS X 10.4.8, Safari 2.0.4: site doesn't remember me despite selecting that option at login. It sets four cookies - style_cookie, phpbb3_8rlha_k, phpbb3_8rlha_u and phpbb3_8rlha_sid.

I got the same problem.
We hope it will be fixed in later releases, but due to the large amount of SPAM, this was really needed.

Why can't one set that the user information and avatar are displayed on the left and not on the right, I don't like it that way.
Definitely needs more skins imho. But anyway, updated software is always better :) (well, mostly)

Well, this can be skinned, but there are not yet many complete skins, and templates are public. And we need more cones !

Ou, finally you did it, congratulations. :)

Hopefully this one will prevent spammers, but you never know.

Another thing to think about is pretty small logo, so here is my suggestion: I saw a horisontally placed "shouting" cone someone created (it's here on forum somewhere), it could fit perfectly into the top. :)

Well, if you are using Firefox get the Stylish extension and use the following CSS:

Code: Select all

.postbody { float: right !important; } .postprofile { float: left !important; } /* To avoid leaving an unnecesary space at the left in "preview post" */ .post#preview .postbody { width: 100% !important; }
It's a quick try, so it may be a couple of issues with it.

Another way would be to add this code in a separated style-sheet and leave it as an alternative style, but that's server-sided.

The icon "View first unread post" is still ridiculously small, while it is maybe the most useful action for regular forum users. Is there a way to have a bigger icon?

Same problem here on Vista x64 with Opera 9.21, and here it's only setting style_cookie.

It takes significantly longer to load topics/threads with this new forum, are there any optimizations to be done or will it just take longer to load for now on? :(

I agree with CloudStalker if the new forum gives j-b more time on the vlc code it is worth it.

Wow! You can't even take a day off without coming home and finding all the furniture rearranged. I'm still tripping over things. Getting used to this (at the moment is annoying) is kinda slow go.

Two things I have noticed.

1. Scrolling an index page is unstable, slow and jerky.

2. Backing up a page is more prone to "THIS PAGE HAS TIMED OUT" errors. Which means you can't pick up where you left off without scrolling. Does this sound like a catch 22??? :P

couple of Questions: what are the 'Bots' for? Do they have to be shown in the registered user panel? It's a little confusing.

I can't say I miss the old forum just some things about it.

I don't feel it slower than the previous one. However I'll check the load.

The Bots thing is to identify googleBots and other to serve them cached pages, and remove sid in URLs (If you don't understand this, skip it).

DJ: can you detail those issues: I don't have them.

That might be due to the fact that a few maintenance operations (like recreating the search index) were underway. I've finished runing those (sometime last night, Paris time) so it should be faster now.

Any solution to the cookies issue? I have that one, too. I always have to relogin if I follow a link to the forum that does not contain my sid, kinda annoying :/

Well it could be a board settings issue. I've done come checking on the phpbb forums and found a possibly useful post in a thread on this exact problem:

Ah, I changed the url in the server settings but not in the cookie settings after runing the conversion. Should be fine now. Thanks for the help.
