When adding URL
http://download.videolan.org/pub/videol ... SuSE/10.2/
to Yast2 the following message is displayed....

http://download.videolan.org/pub/videol ... SuSE/10.2/
Unknown Error: Downloading metadata failed (is YUM source?) or user did not accept remote source. Aborting refresh.

It seems unfortunately, you're more hitting a bug in openSUSE 10.2 than in our repository.

Please also compare to the Novell Bugtracker: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=226084 (here, somebody explains the exact same error with an official openSUSE Update repo).

You can try the following things:
Replace the url with:
ftp://download.videolan.org/pub/videola ... SuSE/10.2/

or try with

Code: Select all

su - rug sa -t zypp http://download.videolan.org/pub/videolan/vlc/0.8.6/SuSE/10.2/ vlc
Alternative, if you decided to use the openSUSE package management instead of the enterprise package manager, you could need to try:

Code: Select all

su - zypper sa -t zypp http://download.videolan.org/pub/videolan/vlc/0.8.6/SuSE/10.2/ vlc
I hope this helps... keep us informed on this,

Dominique

I've just added same URL in yast2 one more time and this time it was successful. (Just warning about missing signature on repomd.xml).

Thank you for help, Sergey.

Yes, there was a problem about the signature file.

As a short term solution, we removed the sig this afternoon )that's why you were able to add it) and we just added the signature again now.

So: now everybody should be able to use the repos again.. yast, rug and zypper, including a valid signature.
