Could there (if there isn't....I tried searching forums and wiki) be created a consistent URL to downlaod the latest version of VLC Player without the version number within it? So that a person could create a script that goes out and downloads the current latest version each time the script is run and installs it independent on a version number?

Something similar to what Mozilla has with Firefox (https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/rel ... README.txt)? Chrome, WebEx and various other applications that are installed often have similar functionality and it would be great if VLC could too!

That would be feasible, and used to be provided, for the source tarball. Not what you want? Well that's exactly why it's not provided any longer.

I'm sorry, I'm not understanding what you mean by "Not what you want? Well that's exactly why it's not provided any longer." I posted this in a Feature Request sub-forum.....isn't this where I should put what I'd want?
