WHY is there no direct link to the 64bit Win10 download?

I have two machines running Windows10 Home and a further two running Windows10 Pro
I have installed VLC Media Player on one of my machines running Windows 10 Pro, only to find that it is the 32bit version!
Since virtually all machines produced in the last decade are 64bit capable, and most of them are running 64bit OS's, WHY on earth is the default download 32bit???
Is this link:-https://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=135266 I found when Googling for a direct link, ...I don't like using third party hosted links so used the first one offered in WinfridT's post, which is of course already in need of updating.
A simple and direct Link from your download page would be much appreciated I'm sure.

On [1], the page try to detect your OS from you user agent and provide you the appropriate version (including 64bit version for windows). If this fails you can always click the right down icon next to the download button and manually choose "Windows 64bit"

Because every computer than can run 64bits can also run 32bits apps. But not the other way around.

So, we try and detect the OS, if we cannot, then we fallback to 32bits, because this is what makes sense.
