Update status files still read 3.0.16 as latest version

Hi, is there a reason why https://www.videolan.org points to version 3.0.17.4 as the latest version of VLC – for Windows at least – but the status file at https://update.videolan.org/vlc/status-win-x64, which VLC reads to detect whether an update is required, still reads 3.0.16?
Is 3.0.17 a beta release?

No, v3.0.17.4 is the latest release as of today, as you can see here:

Maybe you should create a new ticket on the VLC Trac with your above report and the link to this thread, to attract attention from the people in charge of the website who don't read enough this dedicated forum:

As of today, two weeks after the report, https://update.videolan.org/vlc/status-win-x64 has still not being updated:

VLC 3.0.16 is a small update to VLC 3.0 branch: it fixes playback on some Windows versions, and some video graphic cards; it fixes playback of some DVD images and MP4 files; it also adds supports for Opus and Alac in Wav files, and fixes other minor and security issues.

Also notice the use of http in the URL instead of https.

This is correct. This was fixed for 3.0.18.
